Wedding Photography - More than just images

Having been in this business for over 15 years, Ian has photographed many weddings.

Since we married - some 6 years ago now - I have worked with him and we both agree that what we love most about this job is the people we meet, and we feel very honoured to be part of their very special day.

All our weddings are different, and our brides, grooms and guests have given us a whole range of experiences - and challenges - to remember!  We have helped capture some fantastic memories, laughed and shared jokes with guests, emotions with the bride and groom, and nerves with the clergy!

Of course, every wedding we cover is special but occasionally we are reminded of how precious life is, how important family are, and what marriage and sharing your life with someone is really about.

We were recently invited to photograph Janet and Lloyd's wedding in Walsall, West Midlands.  Janet and Lloyd now live in London with their beautiful daughter, Hope.  Their wedding was arranged with the help of their friends and family living locally in Walsall, who were a great support to them.

We first met Janet and Lloyd in January 2014 and during the following few weeks we learned that Janet's father, Harold, was extremely ill and they weren't sure whether he would be able to make it to the wedding.

On April 12th Janet and Lloyd were married at St. John's Church, Pleck, Walsall.  The church was full with friends and family, but unfortunately Harold was too poorly to get there to see his daughter marry.  Harold's brother, Danny, was vising from Jamaica and gave Janet away, an experience which Danny said he was extremely honoured to be asked.  He had come to England to visit his brother, and didn’t expect for one moment to be asked to give away the bride!

The ceremony was beautiful, with the bridesmaids and groomsmen all looking stunning, and beautiful Hope as flower girl.  Hope gave a reading in Church and was an absolute star -  any mom and dad would be extremely proud.

Two stretched limousines and a classic car took the wedding party to the Walsall Aboretum for some photographs and the sun peeked through when it could.  The wedding party and guests were fantastic - even though it was, I have to agree, a little on the chilly side (to say the least).  They were all up for half an hour or so of photographs before leaving the bride and groom to have some time on their own with us, whilst the guests all took off to the Murad Banqueting Suite for the reception.

I don't think Janet will mind us saying that her happiness was tinged with a little sadness that her father was not at her side.  But there was a solution - we scooped Janet, Lloyd and Uncle Danny off to see her father who lived not too far away, before continuing onto the reception.  Now, Ian doesn't often get emotional at weddings - it wouldn't really do for a wedding photographer to be filling up all the time - but this experience was extremely humbling.

I think the photographs speak for themselves.

Lloyd was a tower of strength for Janet and his love for her shone through, just as Janet's love for him, her father and her family did.

We continued onto the venue where the guests were awaiting the arrival of the new Mr and Mrs Moriah.  Food was served, the DJ was set up and the speeches commenced.

Uncle Danny said how honoured he was to have been asked to give Janet away.

Philip, the Best Man and one of Lloyd’s oldest friends, gave a few secrets away from years gone by …..

… and Lloyd's father spoke about the two families becoming one.  It was very clear that these two families will do just that.  The love and support between them was evident and it really struck home that this was what marriage was about.  Supporting each other, and each other's families, and really becoming one unit.   It was an absolute honour and pleasure to experience such warmth and love from such lovely families.

And then the party began ...

Thank you so much, Janet and Lloyd, for asking us to share your day.
